The Pine School Receives Sunshine Coach
Children with complex autistic communication difficulties will now be able to enjoy school trips and outside activities when they take delivery of their brand new Sunshine Coach.
This is the 38th Sunshine Coach to have been provided by leading professional services firm, Poppleton & Appleby (P&A) established 120 years ago.
P&A were established in 1885 and the independent insolvency practice has been working with The Variety Club of Great Britain since 1987 to raise money for underprivileged and handicapped children.
And 18 years later The Pine School in Dreghorn Road, Castle Bromwich will receive their very own Sunshine Coach donated by the firm.
Earlier in June of this year an association called 'Get Hooked on Fishing' which organises fishing trips for schools in the Selly Oak area of Birmingham also received a Sunshine Coach from the firm too.
P&A host an annual Celebrity Golf Tournament and Gala Dinner every year to raise funds - the annual event is run in conjunction with The Variety Club of Great Britain Golfing Society.
This year's event was held at St Pierre in Chepstow over the first weekend in June, with the Celebrity Gala Dinner held on the eve of the Golf Classic.
And in traditional fashion a selection of celebrities attend the event and lend their support, free of charge, by providing entertainment during both the dinner and golf tournament itself.
Martin Coyne, senior partner at P&A commented, "Every year since 1987 we have presented two Sunshine Coaches to the Variety Club of Great Britain. It has been, and remains, our way of playing a vital part in improving other peoples lives.
"This is our way of ensuring that under-privileged and handicapped children from special schools can share new and exciting experiences in a world that we often take for granted.
"I am delighted that the children of The Pine School in Castle Bromwich will be also be able to benefit from the use of this coach."
Head teacher Mr Steven Tuft said, "The delivery of the Sunshine Coach is absolutely fantastic news for our School. It will now enable us to arrange school outings more independently, in a vehicle that our pupils can become both accustomed to and familiar with."
