New indoor cricket facilities bowl over pupils!

Richard Mason and School Pupils

Arden School & Language College in Knowle is now providing their pupils with a brand new, state of the art, indoor cricket facility, thanks to the generosity of a Birmingham business.

Poppleton & Appleby, a member of The Ludgate Partnership based in Ludgate Hill Birmingham, has donated a sizeable sum to the School, to add to the funds already raised including the Schools PTA.

The donation has resulted in the sports department being upgraded with four brand new indoor cricket nets, together with training mats and cricket helmets - allowing the pupils access to a practice facility all year round, regardless of the weather conditions outside.

Paul Deakin, head of physical education commented, "Our new facilities are absolutely fantastic and will clearly be invaluable during the winter months and periods of bad weather.

"The pupils have taken to the indoor facility very well indeed, and we are already seeing improvements to their individual skill levels.

"I would like to thank the partners and staff at Poppleton & Appleby for their very kind gesture, which really is very much appreciated."

The top performing School is one of a handful nationally that has been awarded top marks by Ofsted during their last three visits - and has been listed in the top three performing Schools in a recent Sunday Times survey.

Martin Coyne (pictured), managing director of The Ludgate Partnership and senior partner at Poppleton & Appleby said, "As a member of the local community, I am delighted to be able to contribute to the improvements to the School for the benefit of all of the pupils that attend

"I see this initial contribution as part of an ongoing commitment and wish the School every success in their long term plans for continued improvement."

Poppleton & Appleby has been looking after the interests of directors since 1885.
