Escalating PAYE / VAT Arrears
All too often the Crown debts are left unpaid as limited cash resources are demanded elsewhere in a business. The result can be an accumulation of debt due to the Crown and deteriorating relationship with the local Crown Office.
Whilst the Crown can be sympathetic to the pressures of running a business, their patience is not exhaustive. The Crown authorities are also equipped with a range of powers to collect the debt and also ensure it does not continue to escalate. This can, and often does, result in the seizure of assets or forced winding up of the company.
Any attempt to negotiate deferred terms must be realistic. Any failure to meet those terms results in a loss of confidence and credibility and there is rarely a second chance to re-negotiate.
